Monro already has the capability to supply bio based plastics and packaging with recycled content up to 100% PCR, reducing the amount of virgin plastic used. Our belief is that we should use our expertise to enable the use of these materials in the manufacture of packaging for all Brands. We want to empower Brands and embolden them in the use of recycled plastic content, until it becomes the industry standard approach. 

Glass is a key case study as a material which has always used approximately 30% recycled content. We have an ambition to see this acceptance of recycled content in all plastic packaging, and our mission is to challenge and disrupt the norm.

Whether is it glass, cardboard palettes, colour cosmetics, or plastic bottles or jars, we have a range of products which can be produced using an internationally recognised bio plastic material, recycled content or FSC certified paper.


Monro believes that only consumer pressure will bring rapid change in government policy towards recycling practices, and so we hope that by encouraging the use of recyclable packaging materials, Glass / PET + PP Plastic / Cardboard, we can promote the use of packaging recyclability in the Beauty sector, which in turn will result in the availability of more recycled material. Capturing and reusing the material we consume, is the most fundamental challenge which needs to be addressed.


Focusing on designing out unnecessary material or components is a key objective when it comes to new product development, and this is a key requirement of any project brief Monro delivers, ensuring a maximum return on a minimum material content.

We also promote and emphasise the ability to create or use refillable packaging – although refillable packaging is quite an alien concept for European consumers, in Asia refillable packaging concepts have been used and widely adopted as standard practice for mass market to luxury brands for many years.  Taking ready to go refillable packaging designs and promoting these to our clients is a standard approach for Monro Cosmetics, when we develop new products with our clients.
